Sale and Mandi’s Learning Trail leads you into the heart of the protected natural area of Partovec, where – through the story of two friendly salamanders – you explore the hidden world of the forest, water, and life beneath the surface. The circular path takes you through eight themed stations, each marked with a sign and a QR code revealing the rich diversity of local plants, animals, and natural phenomena.

A walk through Partovec is not just a nature stroll – it is an outdoor classroom, a sensory experience, and an invitation to observe, listen, understand, and respect the natural environment.

Partovec is one of the few preserved wetland ecosystems in this part of Slovenia. With its marshes, forests, and pond, it offers a habitat for many rare species, including freshwater mussels, amphibians, birds, and endangered wetland plants. Due to its outstanding ecological value, the area has been designated a natural monument. Its charm lies in quiet beauty, untouched landscape, and biodiversity that surprises at every step.

Along the trail, you will encounter:

  • the salamanders’ hidden home beneath a stone, where the adventure begins,
  • a romantic resting spot by the water, where dragonflies pause,
  • a peaceful forest area for picnics and observing nature,
  • a dense thicket with features of a primeval forest, full of fallen trees and life,
  • a marshland that purifies water and sustains countless organisms,
  • a historical viewpoint of Partovec Cottage, once a noble retreat,
  • a photo point with seasonal views of the pond,
  • and wooden piers from which you can observe life beneath the surface.

The trail is suitable for all generations, especially appealing to school groups and families with children thanks to its playful, educational, and eco-friendly concept.
