At the Kalšek-Podkrajšek Homestead in Žiče three crafts prevail: they produce delicious Styrian wine, cook a variety of fragrant homemade brandies and weave pretty wickerworks from the willow withies combined with whitewashed switches that are characteristic of the Dravinja Valley. It was with the latter that they earned the quality sign the Tastes of Rogla, the entry into the book the Masterpieces of Slovenia and the certificate of the Chamber of Crafts as the Product of the home craft.

On the homestead they will be happy to show you how to weave beautiful baskets and braids and you can even attend a handicraft workshop for 2 to 8 people.

A tip: a wicker product can be a great gift or souvenir.

  • the homemade Blaufränkisch and Sauvignon from the Žiče vineyards,the pear brandy from old pear varieties,the Rabbit blood brandy from Blaufränkisch, whose name derives from the color of the brandy and the nearby Žiče Charterhouse, which bears the name Zajcklošter (Rabbit Monastery).
