The Parish Church of St. Cunigunde in Gorenje above Zreče was first mentioned in written sources in 1391. Its extraordinary advantage is its divine position. At 748 meters above sea level above Zreče, it was given one of the most beautiful views of the Dravinja Valley, all the way to Boč, Donačka gora, with many neighboring churches, villages and other mountains.

The Parish Church of St. Cunigunde also suprises:

  • The original church was wooden! Only the mighty bell tower from the first half of the 14th century is preserved, which was once separated from the church.
  • The church has 5 altars. The main one is dedicated to the patron saint of the parish, Empress Cunigunde, who was proclaimed a saint in 1200. The church holds a painting on the canvas, depicting the saint in her »fiery« ordeal.
