About the Nativity Scene Exhibition
This year’s opening of the nativity scene exhibition on Rogla will be truly one of a kind.
On 6 December, the church on Rogla will, for the first time, host a selection of paper nativity scenes created by renowned Czech artists – a precious collection that has been carefully curated for over a decade by cultural enthusiast and collector Jože Žlaus. His dedication to preserving folk art, his long-standing involvement in nativity-scene exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad, and his extensive collection featuring works by more than ten Czech authors have made it possible for Rogla to shine this year in a uniquely international festive spirit.
Czech paper nativity scenes are considered one of the most authentic expressions of local folk art – small, meticulously crafted three-dimensional compositions that blend painting, printmaking, and craftsmanship, and have been telling the story of Christmas in their own distinctive way for more than two centuries.
