You're invited to revive the spirit of the Carthusians and taste tradition with a modern twist!
In 2025, as the Žička kartuzija celebrates 860 years since the arrival of the Carthusians in the secluded Valley of Saint John the Baptist, we are organizing a unique wine and culinary afternoon for the first time. This special event will blend the historical heritage of the Carthusians with the wine varieties they brought to our region.
The event will take place within the historic walls of the Žička kartuzija Monastyery, in the magical setting of the small cloister, where the kitchen, dining hall, and refectories—the very heart of daily Carthusian community life—once stood. Today, this space will shine in an elegant transformation that respectfully honors the past while offering a modern experience of wine and cuisine.

The culinary delights will be provided by Gastuž Inn (est. 1467)—the oldest still-operating inn in Slovenia—which will present dishes inspired by Carthusian tradition.
Tastings will take place in a unified, elegant style—with harmoniously designed stands and a thoughtfully organized system of tokens and tasting glasses.

€19 – includes a souvenir tasting glass in a pouch, 1 food token, and 1 drink token.
