Under the artistic direction of accordionist and composer Janez Dovč, musicians have been showcasing Slovenian folk heritage in modern and vibrant arrangements since 2008. For their latest production, they have prepared an entirely new repertoire, blending folk music with newly composed settings of poetry by poets such as I. Cankar, O. Župančič, E. Kocbek, K. Šuler, K. D. Kajuh, and others. The creators have developed a special sense of counterpoint between the richness of various musical traditions and the freedom of personal expression. Folk music is a memory from ancient times, an echo of the land carrying the diversity of Slovenian regions, while original songs act as the "spring of the spirit" (Kocbek) that connects this diversity. Through their concert, they aim to showcase the richness of cultural, natural, and global diversity. In their 13 years of activity, Sounds of Slovenia have performed at numerous venues both domestically and internationally. The outstanding creators now present a new program, characterized by arrangements that blend acoustic, vocal, and electronic sounds.
