The story of the Sanctum Wine Cellar, in Lipoglav, tells the story of monks who settled in the twelfth century at Žiče Charterhouse and brought with them a vine of French Pinot Noir. They planted this vine on the southern slopes of Klokočovnik and Lipoglav.

Continuing this tradition, the first Slovenian Burgundy cellar was created. It’s name, containing Sanctum, carries the message of something hidden and sacred. They strive to make natural, healthy wines using indigenous yeasts. This yeast has a unique and elegant signature due to the mineral marl soil and cold climate which fills it with an intense aroma.
